The book packager may serve as an agent for the author and/or an extension of the royalty publisher’s staff. The book packager will provide the services of editing, formatting, designing, and producing the book. The packager will deliver the finished books to the publisher. Many of the packagers solicit, on behalf of the publisher, the manuscripts which they package for the publisher. A few will consider unsolicited manuscripts; some will publish titles under their own imprint.

There are some vanity publishers which function under the book packager title. They "package" the book and deliver the copies to the author, who is responsible for all marketing activities.

Quill House Publishers is NOT a book packager.

As we assist an author in self-publishing we may fulfill some of the functions of a book packager in that we deliver a final book package to the publisher (the author). We will, however, assist the self-publisher in developing a marketing plan.
