Vanity Publishing
The vanity publisher, like a
subsidy publisher,
requires
the author to pay all the costs of producing and marketing a book. The vanity
publisher will provide the International Standard
Book Number (ISBN), the Library of Congress (CIP) registration,
and the copyright registration. The vanity publisher will "market"
the book and do order fulfillment.
Because many vanity publishers have a reputation
for publishing any manuscript regardless of quality, bookstores,
reviewers, and distributors largely disregard the vanity publishers
marketing efforts.
Quill House Publishers is NOT a vanity publisher.
What is the difference between a vanity publisher
and a
subsidy publisher?
As a subsidy publisher we make a judgment
on the publishing potential of your book. We will put the Quill
House
imprint
only on a book which we believe has viability and
integrity in the marketplace.
Just because an author has a manuscript and money
does not mean that we will publish his/her work. If the author
wishes to proceed with publication of a manuscript we have judged
as not meeting our publishing goals, we will assist the author
in
self-publishing
the book.
